     Elizabeth Reynolds was baptized on 13 April 1782 at Kinlet. She was the daughter of Peter Reynolds and Mary Reynolds. Elizabeth Reynolds lived in 1804 at Nash Court, Salop, England; Nash Court was quite a pile! See pictures at http://www.francisfrith.com/nash,shropshire/photos/. Maybe Nash Court Farm was the place. She married Samuel Davis Sr., son of Edward Davis, on 26 June 1804 at Nash Chapel, Burford, Salop; groom spelled Davies in the Register, by licence. Witnesses Wm. Reynolds, presumably the bride's brother, and WalterTolley. As of 26 June 1804,her married name was Davis. Elizabeth Reynolds lived in 1813 at Burford, Salop. She died on 16 October 1813 at Burford at age 31. She was buried on 21 October 1813 at Burford; ..."died October 16 181 aged 31 years", according to her grave inscription.

     The Rev. Samuel Davis was born in 1807 at Burford, Salop; In the census returns, he is said to be born 1810. He was christened on 2 January 1810 at Burford, Shropshire. He was the son of Samuel Davis Sr. and Elizabeth Reynolds. The Rev. Samuel Davis Samuel Davis "of Worcestershire" (sic), admitted as a Pensioner - but did not reside on 23 October 1830 St. John's College, Cambridge. He matriculated Michaelmas 1831 (admitted under Mr Ash); Scholar (Salop), 1 November 1832; B.A. (33rd Wrangler) 1835 on 10 October 1831 Christ's Coillege, Cambridge. He was ordained in 1835 at Exeter; a Deacon. He was His brother Peter records in his diary:
"Samuel arrives home from Culmstock to take charge of the Burford flock, being appointed curate or rather engaged as one by Mr. Rushout" on 4 March 1836. He was mentioned in his brother's diary: "Samuel returns from Burcott and brings Mrs. Reynolds with him in her carriage with his own horse." on 1 June 1836 at Shropshire. He married Lucinda Buckingham, daughter of The Rev. James Buckingham and Mary (?), on 16 June 1836 at Burrington, Devon; "Before his marriage, he met all three of his future wives on the same day," according to Great-nephew RL Davis. (cf Barchester Towers: 'Indeed it was hard to say which was the old love and which was the new, Mr Slope having been smitten with both [Mrs Bold and Signora Neroni] so nearly at the same time.'). The Rev. Samuel Davis was a witness when Peter Davis was recording in his diary: "Take Tea at Burford along with Sam and his bride, a truly affectionate and estimable person." on 12 August 1836. The Rev. Samuel Davis was ordained in 1837; a priest. He witnessed the burial of Samuel Davis Sr. on 2 September 1837 at Burford; "In memory of Samuel Davis who died 30 August 1837 aged 69 years", it says on his gravestone in Burford churchyard (near to the S-E end of the church) "Slight storms. AM. Fine afternoon. The funeral day of my poor dear Father. The chief mourners, my brothers..William & Saml , Mrs Trumper and myself. The Pallbearers, eight in number, viz. Mr Wm Reynolds, Mr Partridge, Mr B Edwards, Mr E Edwards, Mr B Giles, Mr C Williams, Mr J Nott of Eastham & Mr Wm Mytton of Deptcroft. The underbearers 6 of the workmen viz. Thos Phillips, James Porton, John Dewis??, John Jones, Wm Bayliss & Thos Peade??. Mr Rushout & Mr Rodwell , the clergymen. The former performed the burial service. Also present Mr H Davis, the surgeon, & Mr Anderson, the Attorney who prepared the will, Morgan the coffinmaker, Mills the tomb builder. The pallbearers wore hatbands and scarfs. The workmen hatbands and gloves took 5/ each in money. All the rest of workmen at Park, Nash and Burford who were not bearers gloves and 5/ each in money. Mr Russell the undertaker. On returning home Mr Anderson read the will. Only Saml & Aunt Partridge stay dinner with me. The Executors, my two brothers and myself. The trustee for my sister Mr Wm Reynolds. All passes off in the greatest and pleasantest manner possible and may the Lord have mercy on the soul of the departed. A better Father, a better husband or a more upright and honest man never was in existence." The Rev. Samuel Davis witnessed the probate of the estate of Samuel Davis Sr. after 6 September 1837; Probate of their father's will was granted to Wm, Samuel (Junior) and Peter Davis - personal effects under £2000. The Rev. Samuel Davis was "Chaplain" in 1841 at Bude, Cornwall. He was Curate of Burrington between 1847 and 1852 at Burrington, near Chulmleigh, Devon, England. He appeared in the household of The Rev. James Buckingham in the 1851 census at The Vicarage, Burrington, Devon. The Rev. Samuel Davis was Vicar of Burrington. "Of the old Evangelical school, a man of simple, sweet disposition and fine presence, much revered in the neighbourhood. In his time the church was restored and church schools built." between 1852 and 1883. He was Rector of Burrington Deptcroft in August 1853 at Burrington Vicarage, near S Molton, Devon. He married Jane Elizabeth Blackmore, daughter of The Rev. John Blackmore, on 14 April 1857 at Ashford, Barnstaple, Devon. The Rev. Samuel Davis appeared in the 1861 census at Burrington, Devon. He was living. He appeared in the 1871 census at The Vicarage, Burrington, Devon; (Head: Samuel Davis, 61, Vicar of Burrington, his wife Ellen E. 38 and his children Alexander P. and Alfred H., 8 and 6, and unmarried visitor Arthurina M. Pridham, 30, surgeon's daughter - and cook, housemaid, nursemaid). He appeared in the 1881 census at Burrington Vicarage, Burrington, Devon; Head: Samuel Davis, 71, Vicar of Burrington, his wife Ellen E. 48 and his son Alexander Platt, 18 midshipman and unmarried visitor Edward P.B. Pridham, 32 coffee planter - and another visitor and 3 domestic servants. He died on 12 August 1883 at Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England, at age 73; "aged 73."

     The Rev. (Samuel) Clement Davis was born on 21 July 1837 at Dawlish, Devon; Venn's Cambridge Alumni - see page 56 of the Scrapbook - says 21/7/1838, but the IGI gives 27/8/1837 for his baptism - see email from Polly Lawrence; and 1881 census (Axmouth) shows him as 43, so b 1837 is more likely. He was the son of The Rev. Samuel Davis and Lucinda Buckingham. The Rev. (Samuel) Clement Davis was baptized on 27 August 1837 at St. Gregory's, Dawlish, Devon, England. He was Church of England. He appeared in the household of The Rev. James Buckingham in the 1851 census at The Vicarage, Burrington, Devon. The Rev. (Samuel) Clement Davis was educated at Boyce House, Cheltenham College; Boyce House till 1854, when he left, reentering in 9/1855. He left in 1856. (NB Cheltenham College was founded in 1841, the original school being formally opened on 22nd June 1843. " In the early days there were small, private boarding houses known by the name of the housemaster. Rev W Boyce ran the Priory (on London Road) from 1847 to 1866" - so the Cheltenham College Archivist writes.). He was educated on 26 March 1857 at Caius College, Cambridge; admitted as Pensioner - date of matriculation (as a pensioner) 1857 Michs. Scholar 1858-61; BA 1861; MA 1864. He was ordained in 1866 at London; Deacon - appointed Curate of St. Paul's, Ball's Pond Rd., Islington - 1866-7. He was ordained in 1867 at Priest, Exeter; Curate of Burrington, Devon 1867-70. He appeared in the 1871 census at Holly Fm., Horsington; (Samuel C. Davis, lodger, unmarried, 33, Curate of Horsington [1870-73] in the household of a landowner, Robert Coombes). He married Arthurina Margaret Pridham, daughter of Thomas L. Pridham MRCS, LACL and Caroline Poole, on 24 September 1872 at Bideford, Devon. The Rev. (Samuel) Clement Davis lived in 1873 at Torwood, Devon; Curate of Torwood, 1873-4. He was Diocesan Inspector of Schools circa 1874. He was Vicar of Axmouth after 1874 at until 1892. He appeared in the 1881 census at The Vicarage, Axmouth, Devon; (Head: Samuel C. Davis, 43, Vicar of Axmouth, his wife Autherina, 40, and her mother Caroline, 71; and 3 servants and a groom). He lived on 11 November 1892 at Paignton. He died in March 1893 at age 55. He died on 6 March 1894 at Torbay House, Paignton, Devon, at age 56.

     Arthurina Margaret Pridham was born on 1 December 1840 at Bideford, Devon. She was the daughter of Thomas L. Pridham MRCS, LACL and Caroline Poole. Arthurina Margaret Pridham was baptized on 5 January 1841. She appeared in the household of Thomas L. Pridham MRCS, LACL in the 1851 census at Bridgeland St., Bideford, Devon. As of after 1857,her married name was Davis. Arthurina Margaret Pridham appeared in the household of The Rev. Samuel Davis in the 1871 census at The Vicarage, Burrington, Devon. Arthurina Margaret Pridham married The Rev. (Samuel) Clement Davis, son of The Rev. Samuel Davis and Lucinda Buckingham, on 24 September 1872 at Bideford, Devon. Arthurina Margaret Davis appeared in the household of The Rev. (Samuel) Clement Davis in the 1881 census at The Vicarage, Axmouth, Devon. Arthurina Margaret Pridham died before 16 June 1890.

     Dr Charles William Pridham was born on 21 April 1832 at Bideford, Devon. He was the son of Thomas L. Pridham MRCS, LACL and Caroline Chapman Patch. Dr Charles William Pridham appeared in the household of Thomas L. Pridham MRCS, LACL in the 1851 census at Bridgeland St., Bideford, Devon.

     Gertrude Louisa Davis was born on 19 July 1847 at Titley, near Lyonshall, Herefordshire; b "Pembridge" according to the 1871 Census. She was the daughter of Peter Davis and Jane Jeffries. Gertrude Louisa Davis was baptized on 9 February 1848 at Staunton-on-Arrow, Herefordshire. She appeared in the household of Peter Davis in the 1851 census at Village Fm. House, Bromfield, Shropshire. Gertrude Louisa Davis appeared in the household of Jane Jeffries in the 1861 census at Bromfield, Shropshire. Gertrude Louisa Davis lived with Mary Anne Jeffries on 6 December 1866 at The Woodhouse, Byton. Gertrude Louisa Davis appeared in the household of Mary Anne Jeffries in the 1871 census at Lower House, Stapleton Court Farm, Presteigne, Herefordshire. Gertrude Louisa Davis married M. Howard Freer, son of Leacroft Freer and Eliza Powell Dudley, on 16 May 1872 at Welford. As of before 3 October 1873,her married name was Freer. Gertrude Louisa Davis emigrated after 12 April 1892 from Canada. She appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at Bedford; Gertrude Freer and three of her children were in the same household. She lived before 1914 at Maple Ridge; The "Freer House" was built for Gertrude by her sons, in Maple Ridge, just east of Vancouver. She lived in 1915 at Port Hammond, BC, Canada. She immigrated after 1918 to England; (She stayed with her daughter Edith Welch). She died on 24 August 1932 at age 85; living with daughter Edith. She was buried at Maple Ridge.

     M. Howard Freer was born on 18 November 1847 at Kingswinford. He was the son of Leacroft Freer and Eliza Powell Dudley. M. Howard Freer was a farmer. He lived on 21 August 1869 at The Grange, Bidford-on-Avon; Peter Davis wrote to Howard on his proposing to take over Bidford Grange: the writer mentions that he hopes they did not settle for too much because PD did not think it was very good land. He also mentions Howard's sister, presumably, Kate, and how happy PD's daughter Gertrude would be to have her close by. Little did he probably know that within a few years they would be his son-in-law and daughter-in-law! He appeared in the 1871 census at Grange House, Bidford-on-Avon, Warwickshire; Head: Howard Freer, 23, farmer of 245 acres with 8 labourers, 2 women & 2 boys, b. Wordsley, Staffs., and his sister Catherine Freer, 26, born Edgbaston. He married Gertrude Louisa Davis, daughter of Peter Davis and Jane Jeffries, on 16 May 1872 at Welford. M. Howard Freer was farmer of 245 acres 8 men and 2 boys on 4 April 1881 at The Grange, Bidford, Warwickshire. He lived on 4 April 1881 at The Grange, Bidford, Warwickshire. He lived in 1887 at The Grange, Broom, near Alcester. He died on 12 April 1892 at age 44. He was buried at Dorsington Church.

     Laura Jane Meredith Davis was born on 15 March 1850 at Titley, nr. Lyonshall. She was the daughter of Peter Davis and Jane Jeffries. Laura Jane Meredith Davis appeared in the household of Peter Davis in the 1851 census at Village Fm. House, Bromfield, Shropshire. Laura Jane Meredith Davis was baptized on 17 February 1853 at Bromfield, Shropshire. She appeared in the household of Jane Meredith in the 1861 census at 23 High Street, Guildford. Laura Jane Meredith Davis was confirmed on 6 April 1868 at Long Marston. She appeared in the household of Jane Davis in the 1871 census at Bickmarsh Hall, Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. Laura Jane Meredith Davis witnessed the marriage of Dr. William Robert Speirs and Fanny Jane Britten on 3 October 1872 at Presteigne. As of 1874,her married name was Lutwyche. Laura Jane Meredith Davis married Dr. M. Alfred Lutwyche in 1874. Laura Jane Meredith Lutwyche appeared in the household of Jane Jeffries in the 1881 census at Dowles Rectory, Dowles, Shropshire. Laura Jane Meredith Davis died in 1913; no children.

     Dr. M. Alfred Lutwyche was Carpet Designer. He was born in 1851. He married Laura Jane Meredith Davis, daughter of Peter Davis and Jane Jeffries, in 1874. Dr. M. Alfred Lutwyche died in 1878; aged 27.

     Agnes Elizabeth ("Lily") Davis was born on 23 August 1854 at Bromfield, Shropshire. She was the daughter of Peter Davis and Jane Jeffries. Agnes Elizabeth ("Lily") Davis was baptized on 5 July 1855 at Bromfield, Shropshire. She appeared in the household of Jane Jeffries in the 1861 census at Bromfield, Shropshire. Agnes Elizabeth ("Lily") Davis in 1862 Stratford House School, Camp Hill, Birmingham. She appeared in the 1871 census at 26 Hagley Road, Birmingham; Miss Eliza J. Parkinson (head - schoolmistress, aged 56) with 19 girl pupils aged 9-17 including Agnes E. Davis, 16, born Bromfield, and Elizabeth A. Mitchell, 16, born London. She witnessed the death of Jane Meredith on 8 June 1878 at Rectory House, Dowles, Bewdley, Worcs; from Bright's Disease (2 months) & congestion of the lung (8 days): "Jefferies" on death cert. - aged 75 - death notified by AE Davis, granddaughter. As of after 4 April 1881,her married name was Freer Miss. Agnes Elizabeth ("Lily") Davis married Henry Freer, son of Leacroft Freer, in 1881; in the Stratford-upon-Avon registration district. Agnes Elizabeth ("Lily") Freer Miss appeared in the household of Henry Freer in the 1891 census at The Stream, Kingswinford. Henry Freer appeared in the 1891 census at The Stream, Kingswinford; Henry Freer, head, 55, Ironmaster, born Birmingham, his wife Agnes E., 36, born Bromfield, and son Harold H., 7, born in Kingswinford. He appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at Bromley Lane, Kingswinford; Henry Freer, head, 65, Ironmaster on own account, born Birmingham, his wife Agnes E., 46, born Bromfield, and son Harold H.,17, born in Kingswinford. He was an iron merchant on 10 July 1906. He died in 1930 at The Hawthorns, Bromley Lane, Kingswinford; he had lived there since 1912 at least.

Georgina ("Ina") Reynolds Davis was baptized on 1 January 1857 at Bromfield, Shropshire. She appeared in the household of Jane Jeffries in the 1861 census at Bromfield, Shropshire. Georgina ("Ina") Reynolds Davis appeared in the household of Jane Davis in the 1871 census at Bickmarsh Hall, Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. As of before 1875,her married name was Marshall.      Eliza Augusta Davis was born on 17 August 1858 at Bromfield Sutton, Shropshire. She was the daughter of Peter Davis and Jane Jeffries. Eliza Augusta Davis was baptized on 8 October 1858 at Bromfield, Shropshire. She appeared in the household of Jane Jeffries in the 1861 census at Bromfield, Shropshire. Eliza Augusta Davis appeared in the household of Jane Davis in the 1871 census at Bickmarsh Hall, Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. Eliza Augusta Davis was Nurse at Shrewsbury School. She appeared in the 1881 census at Farm House, Kingscote, Gloucestershire; (Agusta Davis, 22, a visitor to the Blackwell family). She left a will on 8 April 1949; executors: Mary Flamank Marshall (niece) and Edith Irene Miles. She lived on 8 April 1949 at Stanbrook, Burford, Shropshire, England. She died on 20 December 1954 at at Stanbrook House, Burford, Shropshire, England, at age 96. She was buried; "aged 95", according to her tombstone in Burford Churchyard.

(sic) Davis, sister-in-law, 23, b. Bickmarsh Hall, Warwicks. He died circa 1904.

     Flora May ("Floo") Davis was born on 5 May 1862 at Welford. She was the daughter of Peter Davis and Jane Jeffries. Flora May ("Floo") Davis was christened on 13 January 1863 at Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire; although Welford was in Gloucestershire then! She lived with Mary Anne Jeffries on 6 December 1866 at The Woodhouse, Byton. Flora May ("Floo") Davis appeared in the household of Jane Davis in the 1871 census at Bickmarsh Hall, Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. Flora May ("Floo") Davis appeared in the household of Jane Jeffries in the 1881 census at Dowles Rectory, Dowles, Shropshire. As of 22 March 1888,her married name was Marshall. Flora May ("Floo") Davis married Herbert William Marshall, son of Dr. George Henry Marshall and Elizabeth Mitchell, on 22 March 1888 at Dowles, Salop. Flora May ("Floo") Davis died on 9 July 1957 at age 95.

     Alice Marian Davis was born on 8 March 1867 at Welford; The 1871 Census describes her as 4, at 2/4/1871. She was the daughter of Peter Davis and Jane Jeffries. Alice Marian Davis was christened on 8 April 1867 at Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire; although Welford was in Gloucestershire then! She appeared in the household of Jane Davis in the 1871 census at Bickmarsh Hall, Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. Alice Marian Davis appeared in the household of Jane Jeffries in the 1881 census at Dowles Rectory, Dowles, Shropshire. Alice Marian Davis appeared in the household of Dr. Trevor Webster in the 1891 census at 42 High Street, Bewdley, Worcestershire. Alice Marian Davis died in 1922; she never married.

     Harold Ernest Marshall was born on 10 February 1889. He was the son of Herbert William Marshall and Flora May ("Floo") Davis. Harold Ernest Marshall died on 30 April 1969 at age 80.

     Cedric Herbert Marshall was born on 3 October 1890. He was the son of Herbert William Marshall and Flora May ("Floo") Davis. Cedric Herbert Marshall married Sylvia Lillian Collins on 4 June 1919 at Hay. Cedric Herbert Marshall died on 1 November 1956 at age 66.

     Alexander Walton McMillan Captain was born on 7 February 1896. He married Phyllis Mary Marshall, daughter of Herbert William Marshall and Flora May ("Floo") Davis, on 2 August 1923 at Catholic Apostolic Church, Carlton. Alexander Walton McMillan Captain died on 28 July 1953 at age 57.

     Eadith Flora Marshall married an unknown person. She was born on 7 April 1903. She was the daughter of Herbert William Marshall and Flora May ("Floo") Davis. Eadith Flora Marshall died on 29 June 1996 at Mornington, Victoria, Australia, at age 93.
