Elizabeth Reynolds was baptized on 13 April 1782 at Kinlet. She was the daughter of Peter Reynolds and Mary Reynolds. Elizabeth Reynolds lived in 1804 at Nash Court, Salop, England; Nash Court was quite a pile! See pictures at http://www.francisfrith.com/nash,shropshire/photos/. Maybe Nash Court Farm was the place. She married Samuel Davis Sr., son of Edward Davis, on 26 June 1804 at Nash Chapel, Burford, Salop; groom spelled Davies in the Register, by licence. Witnesses Wm. Reynolds, presumably the bride's brother, and WalterTolley. As of 26 June 1804,her married name was Davis. Elizabeth Reynolds lived in 1813 at Burford, Salop. She died on 16 October 1813 at Burford at age 31. She was buried on 21 October 1813 at Burford; ..."died October 16 181 aged 31 years", according to her grave inscription.

The Rev. Samuel Davis was born in 1807 at Burford, Salop; In the census returns, he is said to be born 1810. He was christened on 2 January 1810 at Burford, Shropshire. He was the son of Samuel Davis Sr. and Elizabeth Reynolds. The Rev. Samuel Davis Samuel Davis "of Worcestershire" (sic), admitted as a Pensioner - but did not reside on 23 October 1830 St. John's College, Cambridge. He matriculated Michaelmas 1831 (admitted under Mr Ash); Scholar (Salop), 1 November 1832; B.A. (33rd Wrangler) 1835 on 10 October 1831 Christ's Coillege, Cambridge. He was ordained in 1835 at Exeter; a Deacon. He was His brother Peter records in his diary:
"Samuel arrives home from Culmstock to take charge of the Burford flock, being appointed curate or rather engaged as one by Mr. Rushout" on 4 March 1836. He was mentioned in his brother's diary: "Samuel returns from Burcott and brings Mrs. Reynolds with him in her carriage with his own horse." on 1 June 1836 at Shropshire. He married Lucinda Buckingham, daughter of The Rev. James Buckingham and Mary (?), on 16 June 1836 at Burrington, Devon; "Before his marriage, he met all three of his future wives on the same day," according to Great-nephew RL Davis. (cf Barchester Towers: 'Indeed it was hard to say which was the old love and which was the new, Mr Slope having been smitten with both [Mrs Bold and Signora Neroni] so nearly at the same time.'). The Rev. Samuel Davis was a witness when Peter Davis was recording in his diary: "Take Tea at Burford along with Sam and his bride, a truly affectionate and estimable person." on 12 August 1836. The Rev. Samuel Davis was ordained in 1837; a priest. He witnessed the burial of Samuel Davis Sr. on 2 September 1837 at Burford; "In memory of Samuel Davis who died 30 August 1837 aged 69 years", it says on his gravestone in Burford churchyard (near to the S-E end of the church) "Slight storms. AM. Fine afternoon. The funeral day of my poor dear Father. The chief mourners, my brothers..William & Saml , Mrs Trumper and myself. The Pallbearers, eight in number, viz. Mr Wm Reynolds, Mr Partridge, Mr B Edwards, Mr E Edwards, Mr B Giles, Mr C Williams, Mr J Nott of Eastham & Mr Wm Mytton of Deptcroft. The underbearers 6 of the workmen viz. Thos Phillips, James Porton, John Dewis??, John Jones, Wm Bayliss & Thos Peade??. Mr Rushout & Mr Rodwell , the clergymen. The former performed the burial service. Also present Mr H Davis, the surgeon, & Mr Anderson, the Attorney who prepared the will, Morgan the coffinmaker, Mills the tomb builder. The pallbearers wore hatbands and scarfs. The workmen hatbands and gloves took 5/ each in money. All the rest of workmen at Park, Nash and Burford who were not bearers gloves and 5/ each in money. Mr Russell the undertaker. On returning home Mr Anderson read the will. Only Saml & Aunt Partridge stay dinner with me. The Executors, my two brothers and myself. The trustee for my sister Mr Wm Reynolds. All passes off in the greatest and pleasantest manner possible and may the Lord have mercy on the soul of the departed. A better Father, a better husband or a more upright and honest man never was in existence." The Rev. Samuel Davis witnessed the probate of the estate of Samuel Davis Sr. after 6 September 1837; Probate of their father's will was granted to Wm, Samuel (Junior) and Peter Davis - personal effects under £2000. The Rev. Samuel Davis was "Chaplain" in 1841 at Bude, Cornwall. He was Curate of Burrington between 1847 and 1852 at Burrington, near Chulmleigh, Devon, England. He appeared in the household of The Rev. James Buckingham in the 1851 census at The Vicarage, Burrington, Devon. The Rev. Samuel Davis was Vicar of Burrington. "Of the old Evangelical school, a man of simple, sweet disposition and fine presence, much revered in the neighbourhood. In his time the church was restored and church schools built." between 1852 and 1883. He was Rector of Burrington Deptcroft in August 1853 at Burrington Vicarage, near S Molton, Devon. He married Jane Elizabeth Blackmore, daughter of The Rev. John Blackmore, on 14 April 1857 at Ashford, Barnstaple, Devon. The Rev. Samuel Davis appeared in the 1861 census at Burrington, Devon. He was living. He appeared in the 1871 census at The Vicarage, Burrington, Devon; (Head: Samuel Davis, 61, Vicar of Burrington, his wife Ellen E. 38 and his children Alexander P. and Alfred H., 8 and 6, and unmarried visitor Arthurina M. Pridham, 30, surgeon's daughter - and cook, housemaid, nursemaid). He appeared in the 1881 census at Burrington Vicarage, Burrington, Devon; Head: Samuel Davis, 71, Vicar of Burrington, his wife Ellen E. 48 and his son Alexander Platt, 18 midshipman and unmarried visitor Edward P.B. Pridham, 32 coffee planter - and another visitor and 3 domestic servants. He died on 12 August 1883 at Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England, at age 73; "aged 73."

(Samuel) Clement Davis was born on 21 July 1837 at Dawlish, Devon; Venn's Cambridge Alumni - see page 56 of the Scrapbook - says 21/7/1838, but the IGI gives 27/8/1837 for his baptism - see email from Polly Lawrence; and 1881 census (Axmouth) shows him as 43, so b 1837 is more likely. He was the son of The Rev. Samuel Davis and Lucinda Buckingham. The Rev. (Samuel) Clement Davis was baptized on 27 August 1837 at St. Gregory's, Dawlish, Devon, England. He was Church of England. He appeared in the household of The Rev. James Buckingham in the 1851 census at The Vicarage, Burrington, Devon. The Rev. (Samuel) Clement Davis was educated at Boyce House, Cheltenham College; Boyce House till 1854, when he left, reentering in 9/1855. He left in 1856. (NB Cheltenham College was founded in 1841, the original school being formally opened on 22nd June 1843. " In the early days there were small, private boarding houses known by the name of the housemaster. Rev W Boyce ran the Priory (on London Road) from 1847 to 1866" - so the Cheltenham College Archivist writes.). He was educated on 26 March 1857 at Caius College, Cambridge; admitted as Pensioner - date of matriculation (as a pensioner) 1857 Michs. Scholar 1858-61; BA 1861; MA 1864. He was ordained in 1866 at London; Deacon - appointed Curate of St. Paul's, Ball's Pond Rd., Islington - 1866-7. He was ordained in 1867 at Priest, Exeter; Curate of Burrington, Devon 1867-70. He appeared in the 1871 census at Holly Fm., Horsington; (Samuel C. Davis, lodger, unmarried, 33, Curate of Horsington [1870-73] in the household of a landowner, Robert Coombes). He married Arthurina Margaret Pridham, daughter of Thomas L. Pridham MRCS, LACL and Caroline Poole, on 24 September 1872 at Bideford, Devon. The Rev. (Samuel) Clement Davis lived in 1873 at Torwood, Devon; Curate of Torwood, 1873-4. He was Diocesan Inspector of Schools circa 1874. He was Vicar of Axmouth after 1874 at until 1892. He appeared in the 1881 census at The Vicarage, Axmouth, Devon; (Head: Samuel C. Davis, 43, Vicar of Axmouth, his wife Autherina, 40, and her mother Caroline, 71; and 3 servants and a groom). He lived on 11 November 1892 at Paignton. He died in March 1893 at age 55. He died on 6 March 1894 at Torbay House, Paignton, Devon, at age 56.

Gertrude Louisa Davis appeared in the household of Jane Jeffries in the 1861 census at Bromfield, Shropshire. Gertrude Louisa Davis lived with Mary Anne Jeffries on 6 December 1866 at The Woodhouse, Byton. Gertrude Louisa Davis appeared in the household of Mary Anne Jeffries in the 1871 census at Lower House, Stapleton Court Farm, Presteigne, Herefordshire. Gertrude Louisa Davis married M. Howard Freer, son of Leacroft Freer and Eliza Powell Dudley, on 16 May 1872 at Welford. As of before 3 October 1873,her married name was Freer. Gertrude Louisa Davis emigrated after 12 April 1892 from Canada. She appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at Bedford; Gertrude Freer and three of her children were in the same household. She lived before 1914 at Maple Ridge; The "Freer House" was built for Gertrude by her sons, in Maple Ridge, just east of Vancouver. She lived in 1915 at Port Hammond, BC, Canada. She immigrated after 1918 to England; (She stayed with her daughter Edith Welch). She died on 24 August 1932 at age 85; living with daughter Edith. She was buried at Maple Ridge.
