"Cheese appears to have jacked up the ground floor of the old centre block to increase the ceiling height, and encased the beams in the study in Georgian plasterwork. He added two fine rooms on the ground and first floor, and a good staircase and hall. He was also responsible for creating the landscape immediately around the house in a Reptonian style."
