     Ellen Caroline Lansdell was born on 9 April 1861 at Ashford. She was the daughter of William Lansdell and Ellen Caroline Byner. Her motto was "Jesus amor meus: Maria spes mea." Her convent name was Maria Lelia du Precieux Sang r.a. (standing for Religious of the Assumption). She lived on 18 September 1883 at Auteuil. She lived in October 1886 at Nimes. She lived on 30 September 1911 at Sidmouth. She was one of the founders of the school at Sidmouth, to replace an orphanage: she was given permission to open the school in 1914, aided by Sisters Araceli and Andrea, with three English girls from Val Notre Dame, Belgium, who originally came for the holidays. She was at Sidmouth until 1st September 1928, when she moved to be the Superior in Richmond, and then on to Ramsgate. She returned to Sidmouth on 19th September 1934. She died on 18 June 1949 at Sidmouth at age 88.
