     (Edward) Hugo Rice-Wiggin was born on 21 April 1843 at The Deanery, Gloucester. He was the son of The Rev. William Wiggin and Frances Emma Rice. (Edward) Hugo Rice-Wiggin was baptized on 17 May 1843 at the Cathedral, Gloucester; by his Grandfather, the Dean of Gloucester: godparents: The Rev. Francis Rice (uncle - later to become 5th Ld. Dinevor), B. Holme Wiggin (sic - not Mowbray!) (uncle) and Mrs. Beaumont (said by Frances Holme Scarlett to be "Aunt" Beaumont [if so, she would have been William Wiggin's sister Catherine]: FHS also said that all her furniture passed to Aunt Eva; and that she was married to Sir George Beaumont [but this is not borne out by Peter Fanshawe's research]; that both were very good-looking and lived in Richmond Park; but that he became a drunkard. He appeared in the household of The Hon. & Very Rev. Dr. Edward Rice DD in the 1851 census at The Deanery, Gloucester. (Edward) Hugo Rice-Wiggin married Henrietta Baxter on 17 April 1873. (Edward) Hugo Rice-Wiggin was HM Inspector of Schools. He was he wrote (with Alfred Percival Graves) "The Elementary School Manager" - publshed in London before 30 August 1879. He died on 30 August 1879 at The Rectory, Hampnett, Gloucestershire, at age 36; An obituary (somewhat surprisingly frank about his harshness) is glued into the front of The Rev. Wm. Wiggin's bible, together with a letter to the editor. He lived on 30 August 1879 at Thornbury Hall, Cheadle, Staffs.. He was buried on 2 September 1879 at Hampnett.

     Henry William Rice Wiggin was born on 11 December 1844 at Oddington, Gloucestershire; 45 minutes before 1 o'clock a.m. He was the son of The Rev. William Wiggin and Frances Emma Rice. Henry William Rice Wiggin was baptized on 19 January 1845 at Oddington; godfathers Henry Hippisley Esq. and the Rev. William Sweet Escott (husband of the child's aunt Lucy nee Rice); godmother the Hon. Harriett Rice (probably the child's 1st cousin once removed - but possibly the wife of his uncle Francis, later 5th Ld Dinevor). He appeared in the household of The Hon. & Very Rev. Dr. Edward Rice DD in the 1851 census at The Deanery, Gloucester. Henry William Rice Wiggin appeared in the household of The Hon. & Very Rev. Dr. Edward Rice DD in the 1861 census at Oddington. Henry William Rice Wiggin was (an unknown value) in 1899 at Meddecombra, Ceylon. He died on 4 November 1910 at Ceylon at age 65; heart failure.

     Augustus Holme Wiggin was born on 17 March 1846 at The Deanery, Gloucester. He was the son of The Rev. William Wiggin and Frances Emma Rice. Augustus Holme Wiggin was baptized on 6 May 1846 at the Cathedral; by the Dean of Gloucester, his grandfather: the godparents were The Rev. Canon Bankes (said by Frances Holme Scarlett to come from Kingston Lacy - and probably the husband of the child's aunt Mary/Maria) and The Hon. Mrs Cochrane (the mother-in-law of the child's uncle B. Holme Wiggin/Mowbray). He appeared in the household of The Hon. & Very Rev. Dr. Edward Rice DD in the 1851 census at The Deanery, Gloucester. Augustus Holme Wiggin died on 26 September 1893 at Albert Lea, Minnesota, USA, at age 47.

     Emmeline Maria Louisa Wiggin was born on 11 December 1847 at The Deanery, Gloucester; In the 1851 Census, she is said to have been born at Oddington. She was baptized after 11 December 1847 at the Cathedral, Gloucester; godparents: Archdeacon Wetherell, Mrs. Wetherell and The Hon. Caroline Rice (the child's mother's first cousin). She was the daughter of The Rev. William Wiggin and Frances Emma Rice. Emmeline Maria Louisa Wiggin appeared in the household of The Hon. & Very Rev. Dr. Edward Rice DD in the 1851 census at The Deanery, Gloucester. Emmeline Maria Louisa Wiggin appeared in the household of The Hon. & Very Rev. Dr. Edward Rice DD in the 1861 census at Oddington. Emmeline Maria Louisa Wiggin lived on 2 April 1871 at Oddington. As of 4 September 1873,her married name was Goodeve. She married George William Goodeve on 4 September 1873 at Hampnett, Gloucestershire; married by The Rev. The Lord Dynevor. Emmeline Maria Louisa Wiggin lived in 1875 at Ceylon. Edwin Rice Wiggin was associated with Catherine Wiggin proprietor or lessee (ER Wiggin: manager) in 1883 at Queenwood, Ceylon. Edwin Rice Wiggin was Dascan Maitland was CAD's godfather. He owned and ran the 207-acre Melton estate, in Lindula, the heart of Ceylon tea land, from the '20s to the late '60s. Originally a coffee estate, it was planted with tea c1880, when the owner was a Mrs Busche, and the Superintendent a PH Maitland, possibly Dascan's father. In 1899 it was owned by a Mrs Wiggin, and superintended by ER Wiggin. in 1899 at Melton Estate, Lindula, Ceylon. He From the Dimbulla Desk Book: "When I came up here (Dimbula) and 'bought in with my brother, it was a rough life we led in all its forms - food, work, hours etc. Some of us lived in thatched wigwams 'conical buildings' - some in apologies for bungalows and O the discomfort of it all; imagine the cigarette youth of to day eating and drinking at 6.00 o'clock, meal composed of bitter beer, beefsteak (O' so tough), spring onions - and we could grow these - and rice rotis, when the bread ran out. For all this we lived a life of enjoyment and goodfellowship unknown in these days......Whisky we knew not, brandy was a medicine, and tea and coffee a treat......Hunts on the Bo-pats were one of our chief relaxations. I had at one time 15 couple of hounds in my godowns, belonging partly to myself and partly to the district pack, which was maintained by subscription." in 1909.

Arthur Robert Wiggin died on 15 November 1903 at Oddington, Ceylon, at age 53; described - wrongly - as "Addington" in The Rev. Wm. Wiggin's family bible. Buried in Lindula churchyard, "aged 63" - which must be wrong.

     Frederick John Rice Wiggin was born on 19 January 1852 at The Deanery, Gloucester. He was the son of The Rev. William Wiggin and Frances Emma Rice. Frederick John Rice Wiggin was baptized on 6 March 1852 at the Cathedral; godparents: The Dean of Gloucester (his grandfather), The Rev. [illegible] and Mrs. Ralston, the child's aunt (née Wiggin). He appeared in the household of The Hon. & Very Rev. Dr. Edward Rice DD in the 1861 census at Oddington. Frederick John Rice Wiggin was educated before December 1869 at Marlborough College. He appeared in the 1871 census at Great Rissington, Gloucestershire. He died on 21 August 1882 at South Pueblo, Colorado, USA, at age 30.

Herbert Rice Wiggin was baptized on 1 July 1853 at Oddington; godparents: The Rev. Henry Rice and Mrs. Cameron, uncle and aunt of the child on his mother's side. He appeared in the household of The Hon. & Very Rev. Dr. Edward Rice DD in the 1861 census at Oddington. Herbert Rice Wiggin lived on 2 April 1871 at Oddington. He was a coffee planter, in Ceylon.      Caroline Eva Wiggin was born on 27 June 1854 at Oddington, Gloucestershire. She was the daughter of The Rev. William Wiggin and Frances Emma Rice. Caroline Eva Wiggin was baptized on 27 August 1854 at Oddington, Gloucestershire. She appeared in the household of The Hon. & Very Rev. Dr. Edward Rice DD in the 1861 census at Oddington. Caroline Eva Wiggin lived on 2 April 1871 at Oddington. She appeared on the census of 1901 at 8 Bayshill Villas, Cheltenham; called Eva C Wiggin in Census, aged 46. She appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at Langton Lodge, Cudnall St, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham; Eva Caroline (sic) Wiggin, 56, nil occupation, with Hilda Holme (sic) W (8), Frances Holme W (5), Constance Hippisley, visitor, single (58) b Stow, nil, Ethel Rudkin, governess (28) b Horsley, a cook, parlour maid, housemaid & kitchen maid. She died on 6 September 1942 at age 88.

     Henrietta Baxter was born in 1835. She married (Edward) Hugo Rice-Wiggin, son of The Rev. William Wiggin and Frances Emma Rice, on 17 April 1873. As of 17 April 1873,her married name was Rice-Wiggin. Henrietta Baxter was buried on 29 March 1923 at Hampnett. She died on 24 March 1933.

     Cecil Frances Sarah Rice-Wiggin was born on 18 March 1874. Said by Frances Holme Scarlett to have been very clever, but not allowed to go to Oxford. She was the daughter of (Edward) Hugo Rice-Wiggin and Henrietta Baxter. Cecil Frances Sarah Rice-Wiggin died circa 1967 at ? St. Faith's, Cheltenham.

     Eva Stena Wiggin was born on 14 April 1886 at Millbank, Minnesota, USA; Dr. S. Rose attended her confinement. She was the daughter of Augustus Holme Wiggin. Eva Stena Wiggin was baptized in March 1892 at the Christian Church, Albert Lea, Minnesota; by the Rev. M. Bywater. She died after 26 September 1893.

     George William Goodeve was born in June 1849 at Clifton, Gloucs.. He was coffee planter, Ceylon (ret'd by 1881) on 4 September 1873 at Oddington, Dimboola, Ceylon. He married Emmeline Maria Louisa Wiggin, daughter of The Rev. William Wiggin and Frances Emma Rice, on 4 September 1873 at Hampnett, Gloucestershire; married by The Rev. The Lord Dynevor. George William Goodeve appeared in the household of The Rev. William Wiggin in the 1881 census at Hampnett Rectory. George William Goodeve was proprietor or lessee (AR Wiggin: manager) in 1883 at Oddington, Ceylon. He appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at Cheltenham. He died; landing his first salmon.

     Mabel Bankes was born on 14 November 1857. She was the daughter of John Scott Bankes. Mabel Bankes married Arthur Robert Wiggin, son of The Rev. William Wiggin and Frances Emma Rice, circa 1870. As of circa 1870,her married name was Wiggin.

     Dorothy Wynne Wiggin was born circa 1871. She was the daughter of Arthur Robert Wiggin and Mabel Bankes. As of circa 1891,her married name was Elton. Dorothy Wynne Wiggin died in 1957.

     Sir Arthur Elton 10th Bart. was born on 10 February 1906 at London. He was the son of Dorothy Wynne Wiggin. Sir Arthur Elton 10th Bart. was He handed Clevedon Court over to the National Trust in 1960. He died on 1 January 1973 at Bristol at age 66.

     Marguerite Eleanor Wiggin was born on 25 December 1876. She was the daughter of Frederick John Rice Wiggin. Marguerite Eleanor Wiggin was baptized on 5 April 1881. She died after 21 August 1882.

     Lieutenant Noel Holme Wiggin was born on 25 December 1890. He was the son of Francis Holme Wiggin and Margaret Carey. Lieutenant Noel Holme Wiggin was educated in December 1900 at Inholmes School, Cheltenham; He was awarded as a prize a book called Up the Nile by H Major, which we have in our Library. He was educated in January 1906 at Cheltenham College; he was at Sherwood House,and left the school in July 1909, going up to Caius College Cambridge. He was educated after July 1909 at Caius College, Cambridge. He was in the First World War a Lieut. attached to 36th Brigade Royal Field Artillery. He died on 11 January 1917 at Kut-el-Amara, Iraq, at age 26.
