Most of my life, I have enjoyed taking photographs.

The pleasure is mine, to record images of people I know and places I have visited. But photography also serves as a useful adjunct to friendship, depending on how easy it is to retrieve photographs taken at a strategic point in my now rather lengthy past.

So, for me a photographer is the one with a camera to hand, a reliable recordist, needed, like an audience for a concert. To take an image that another finds memorable, even desirable, suffices to meet my ambition.
