The Rice pedigree

put together by The Rev. William Wiggin (1820-1901)

These photographs attempt to depict a scroll that sets out the Rice family pedigree. It belonged to The Rev. Wiggin's granddaughter, Frances Holme Scarlett (1905-1990), youngest child of Francis Holme Wiggin (1859-1905). She handed it to her nephew Hew Fanshawe, through whom it has now passed to his nephew John Fanshawe. It is displayed here, starting with the most recent generation, namely that below the scroll's author, whose first wife was Frances Emma née Rice. For further information about the Rice family, see /MDg3-o/index.htm.

George Rice MP was the son of Edward Rice MP and Lucy Trevor, the great-great-granddaughter of John Hampden, known as "the Patriot" (and mentioned in Gray's Elegy).
