3rd Century Roman mosaics in the House of Dionysos, Paphos - Ikarios, king of Athens, offered hospitality to Dionysos and in return the god taught him how to make wine. He warned Ikarios, however, to hide it, otherwise disaster would befall him. Unfortunately, Ikarios did not heed the god's advice. While returning home with his first vintage, he offered some of the wine to shepherds, who became drunk and, thinking themselves poisoned, attacked and killed Ikarios.
